Knapheide’s PGTE Gooseneck Body: Built for the Way They Work

(Knapheide; Quincy, IL) — Knapheide introduced a new work truck body earlier this year at the National Truck Equipment Association’s Work Truck Week exhibition, the steel PGTE gooseneck. It builds upon Knapheide’s existing line of PGT gooseneck bodies, combining the flatbed hauling capabilities of the PGTC with the storage of the PGTD. So, whether your customers need to haul a trailer across a ranch, transport hay bales or navigate their worksites knowing every tool has a dedicated, secured spot, the Knapheide PGTE has them covered.

This body is available in 7’, 8’, 9’ and 11’ configurations. The 11’ model includes two 36” high front storage compartments on each side of the bed, while the other versions offer one on the streetside and one on the curbside.

All PGTE models, regardless of length, feature a B&W Turnoverball gooseneck hitch, rated for 30,000-pounds of gross trailer weight, as a standard. And for added versatility, a Class V receiver hitch can be bolted on most models.

When your customers are hauling, the body’s screen-windowed bulkhead offers them protection, without sacrificing their rear visibility. And when paired with the four recessed D-ring tie-downs, they can tackle tough terrain knowing their cargo is secure.

The PGTE is the mobile workspace your customers need—secure storage and towing capabilities all in one. So, instead of having them rely on bolt-on accessories or retrofitted toolboxes, have them take advantage of this integrated solution, designed with their needs in mind.

Next Generation Steel Body Door Retainers Have Arrived

Knapheide started rolling out new double-spring door retainers this year for steel bodies. They stop doors from swinging on their own and will replace the current style used on vertical compartments and rear doors (when applicable).

The design was put through 40,000 test cycles during research and development. And the upgrades that are worth pointing out?

  • They stay squeak-free for the life of the body.
  • There’s no maintenance or lubrication needed.
  • Their clean, all-black finish matches the door latches.
  • And they’re easy to remove and replace, if ever damaged.

Steel PGTE gooseneck body compartments currently utilize these new double-spring door retainers, and the feature will be rolled out, over time, to Knapheide’s other products as well.
