Tech Roadmap for Progress at the Fall 2025 Commercial Vehicle Business Summit

Work Truck Solutions recently convened industry leaders for the Fall 2025 Commercial Vehicle Business Summit, a forward-looking event focused on innovation, strategy, and the evolving commercial vehicle space.

One of the standout sessions, “Tech Roadmap for Progress,” was moderated by Alex Young, Chief Product Officer at Work Truck Solutions. The panel featured Jeff Risner, Co-founder & Director of Business Development at Trupropel, Eric Foster, Chief Revenue Officer at BZDev, and Will Brogan, Commercial Truck Training Strategist at One Nexus Group.

Session Focus

The session covered many aspects of technology in the commercial vehicle space. The main focus centered on how dealerships, upfitters, and the commercial vehicle industry in general can best approach technology to improve daily operations, and how tech can help organizations achieve their goals.

Key Themes and Insights

Navigating Uncertainty
In an industry where unpredictability is often the norm, proactive communication becomes a strategic advantage. As Will Brogan put it, “When you look at uncertainty as an opportunity to communicate as much as possible with your network… that can really fuel the opportunity to build a relationship.”

A Florida dealer echoed the idea that challenges always come with opportunity: “We don’t know when things are going to happen, but it’s given me an opportunity to stay in constant communication with my customers and prospects.”

Closing the Tech Expectation Gap
As digital expectations continue to rise across every touchpoint, from OEMs to vendors to end customers, the commercial vehicle industry faces mounting pressure to modernize.

Jeff Risner noted, “Technology is setting the expectations of the people that you engage with every day. So, there’s a massive opportunity to incorporate more integrated systems to help fuel whatever the next phases are in the commercial space.”

Connecting Digital Dots for the Business Buyer’s Journey
The demographic of business customers continues to shift toward digital-first attitudes. As such, they are accustomed to more seamless, personalized experiences. For OEMs, dealerships, and upfitters, that makes the ability to unify data across departments essential.

Eric Foster emphasized, “You have to connect the information dots to improve your customers’ experience. That information needs to be available to the service department and for subsequent transactions.”

Additional Topics Explored:

  • Evaluating tech ROI before integration
  • Shifting focus from Return on Investment (ROI) to Return on Time (ROT)
  • Using AI to bridge siloed business functions
  • Building long-term relationships through strategic tech adoption

This session underscored that technology can be a strategic lever for growth, connection, and resilience in a rapidly evolving industry.
