EV ROUTING FOR ANDROID AUTO COMING TO FORD LIGHTNING

F-150 Lightning (and Mustang Mach-E) drivers who love using Google Maps through Android Auto will soon enjoy more sophisticated routing capability to help with the charging needs of an electric vehicle (EV), especially on road trips. This includes the battery on arrival estimate, suggested charging stops, and minimum recommended charge times at each stop.

The feature works when a user connects their smart phone and activates Android Auto in the vehicle and uses Google Maps for navigation.

Google Maps will be able to deliver routing information for Ford EVs including:

  • Battery on arrival estimate
  • End of Range Indicator
  • Auto-suggested charging stops
  • Minimum recommended charge
  • Battery on arrival estimate (next stop)

EV Routing for Android Auto will be rolled out via an over-the-air software update later this year. For more information, visit the Google Blog and Mach-E Vlog’s hands-on demo at CES 2024.
