(CVBN: Chico, CA) — General Motors has pulled the cover off the fully redesigned 2027 GMC Sierra 1500, bringing a wave of generational updates specifically tailored to the needs of commercial fleet operators, job-site managers, and small business owners.
Streamlining its offerings to a six-tier lineup, GMC is dropping the SLE and SLT trims to introduce the Sierra Pro, a dedicated entry-level trim designed strictly for fleet and heavy work-truck duty. The 2027 model pairs its updated platform with four distinct powertrains to help managers balance torque and overhead. The lineup includes an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder, two all-new 6th-generation V8 engines (5.7L and a heavy-hauling 6.6L), and the class-exclusive 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. While GM is bypassing a hybrid option at launch, executives note that the updated Duramax is engineered to deliver better fuel efficiency for high-mileage fleets than current hybrid competitors on the market. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Inside the cabin, the 2027 Sierra embraces the concept of the “rolling office.” Commercial drivers will benefit from a massive digital overhaul—anchored by a 16.3-inch articulating infotainment screen featuring hidden storage—and the all-new MultiPro center console, which transforms into an extended flat workspace for laptops, clipboards, and blueprints.
To improve driver retention and reduce highway fatigue, GMC is also expanding its Super Cruise technology. The system now covers over 600,000 miles of compatible roads and functions fully while trailering, making long-haul equipment transport safer and less taxing for commercial drivers.
Order banks and fleet pricing have not yet been officially released, but the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 is slated to arrive at commercial dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year.
