“We’ve assembled more than 1.2 million Transit vans in the last 10 years, and 99% of Transit vans are still on the road, working hard for customers today,” said Tim Baughman, Ford Pro general manager. “It’s America’s bestselling commercial van because it’s Built Ford Tough, and businesses on every street corner rely on Transit to keep the country moving—from plumbing to carpentry and yes, delivery, too.”
After just six months in production, Transit became America’s bestselling commercial van1 in late 2014 and outsold every other van in America, including minivans, before the end of 2016. And Ford has continued to invest in new variants and innovations across the lineup, in 2020 adding optional all-wheel drive and unveiling the E-Transit electric van, and introducing Transit Trail™, its van life derivative, to the lineup in 2022.
Since beginning U.S. production in April 2014, more than 1.2 million Transit vans have been assembled at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri.2 And 99% of all Transit vans sold in the past 10 years are still on the road.3
Enhancing Range to Reach Even More Industries
E-Transit has quickly become the electric van of choice in America,1 Canada4 and Europe,5 thanks to its versatility. E-Transit, America’s bestselling electric van,6 has saved customers more than 3 million gallons of gas and over 25 million kg of CO2 output since joining the Transit family in 2022.7 According to the EPA Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, that’s the same as planting 413,377 tree seedlings and letting them grow for 10 years.
New for the 2024 model year, Ford Pro enhances range capability on E-Transit, offering an overall estimated range of 159 miles8 on low-roof cargo van models with 89 kWh of usable energy,9 which supports work covering longer distances and provides more capability to unlock electric solutions for new use cases, like refrigerated delivery. The additional range over the previous model is an increase of 26% on low-roof8 and a 32% increase on high-roof models.8
Leveraging Ford Telematics data, Ford analyzed more than 2.5 million trips, totaling 30 million miles, to understand that the average daily range for commercial vans in the U.S. is 74 miles. And E-Transit with enhanced range maintains the same 266 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque as the prior model.10
Registration data shows that customers agree E-Transit owns work, serving more industries and more vocations than any other electric van.11
